Honeycomb

Honeycomb Senior BFA Exhibit

Honeycomb is a showcase of 9 handmade patterns, with each pattern displayed representing a person, place, or event in my life that has shaped my ideation and creation as an artist. These patterns together, come to form a patchwork or quilt formation and I have built on this concept through hand embroidery of a honeycomb quilt design on each panel. The modern concept of quilting often symbolizes an every day use object, and oftentimes, traditional quilts were given for momentous occasions, and for this occasion, showing a important transitional event in my life. Quilts and patterns alike have come to represent an inclusivity of varying backgrounds and materials, and for me represent a comfort and beauty in the repetition as well as evidence of the great amount of time and care.
